Caturday Saturday...Whole Paws® Style Taste Test #WholeFoodsPets

We are back, the feline epicureans, having had to wait 2 whole weeks to be able to indulge ourselves in dining on the new Whole Paws® box of delights!

We were given the opportunity to talk about (and eat!) this new line of pet food courtesy of BlogPaws Pet Blogger Network  and Whole Foods Market®.

As we talked about in our first post about the Whole Foods Market® new line of Grain Free pet foods, Teri told you that she considers the quality of the food we eat as important as the quality of the food she eats! That's why she was excited to share the info on Whole Paws® Pet Foods.

But she also knows that just because something is good for us, we may turn our noses up at what's being served for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

So it was with some trepidation that she opened up the first can... but as we have some foster kitties here right now, there are 9 of us who get to join in on this taste testing of the new Whole Paws® cat food!

We had a choice of four different canned foods to choose from! Two were in 5.5 ounce cans and were of the shredded varieties, which we often just lick the gravy off and leave the 'shreds'... so Teri was very interested to see what we thought of the Whole Paws® Grain Free Shredded Salmon and Chicken Dinner in Gravy and the Whole Paws® Grain Free Shredded Chicken Dinner in Gravy.

Kely was offered the Whole Paws® Grain Free Turkey, Chicken & Giblets Dinner first.

Umm, she sniffed and walked away. It was still on the plate when Teri got home from work...

Then Sammy got to try the Whole Paws® Grain Free Beef & Chicken Dinner and he said Yummy in my Tummy! He cleaned the plate!

Can you hear the slurping sounds in this video??

video

So, on to the next course... and Disco and Coco repurrted that it was tasty and well worth waiing for! They got to share a cab of the Whole Paws® Grain Free Turkey, Chicken and Giblets Dinner, and unlike Kely, they cleaned up their servings!

As you can see, there were 3 plates down, but Brighton thought Teri was going to trim his nails or something because he led her on a wild goose chase around the house and wouldn't settle down to eat!

Then Spot and Dot dined on the Whole Paws® Grain Free Shredded Salmon & Chicken Dinner in Gravy. Spot must have thought the same thing as Brighton and made herself scarce, but Dot loved the shreds and the gravy, cleaning up the plate, something they don't usually do with the shredded varieties of cat food Teri has offered them before!

All the Whole Paws® pet food line meets all of Whole Foods Market's strict quality standards. And it's the first private store brand to have both a dry and wet dog food that's grain free, and there are no artificial flavorings, no artificial preservatives, no animal by-products, and no corn or soy.

As we don't get dry kibble very often and then only as a treat, Teri was pretty sure we'd go for the Whole Paws® Indoor Formula Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe dry food!

The bag says it's a Natural cat food with added vitamins and minerals, with no wheat, corn or soy and no meat by-products and has nutrient rich ingredients.

We all thoroughly enjoyed crunching our way through a dish of this kibble, but only Disco consented to having his photo taken while devouring the food!

And as we promised, we want to list the ingredients of the new Whole Paws® product line of cat food, so here is a list, right off the bag:

We feel the proof of how much we enjoyed our Whole Paws ® food is in the photos, and while not each and every one of us cats enjoyed every variety, Teri said she'd certainly offer it to us again...maybe when she's not trying to take photos of us while we eat, hahameow!

And the next time your servants are shopping at Whole Foods Market®, we urge you to remind them to pick up some Whole Paws® food for you, too!

ManCat Monday

A ManCat Monday update on Carlos! He and Sammy are together 24/7 now and while not curling up together or grooming each other, they do seem to have become comfortable being room mates, and that makes Teri happy!

They eat next to each other now and curl up in their beds across from each other, too. The  cage ManCave door is always open now and it's funny, but they seem to prefer the Man Cave over other resting perches in their room, HahaMeow.

Teri was anxiously waiting to hear back from the couple who were interested in adopting Carlos, and she got a phone call yesterday and they are coming to meet him soon and she thinks they would give him just the kind of home he so deserves and needs!

Til then... Carlos and Sammy are just chillin' together on this ManCat Monday!

Festive Frootbat Friday

Kely and Bebe, while not used to dressing up like the rest of us, reluctantly consented to joining in and letting Teri take a Holiday photo of them.

They really do have large Frootbats... they just didn't want to look at the camera, hahameow!

Wordless Wednesday, Kely Style

This contented kitty is Kely Bray. She is Coco's mom and is 13 years old now. . . kind of a Grannie Cat.

She and Sammy are the same age, and Teri says she thinks Kely will spend the rest of her life here with us, so she doesn't have to worry about her adjusting to a new home. She had to do that once and Teri says that's enough. . .

You might recall and Kely and her daughter, Bebe, were returned to us back in April 2013. The both seem happy here and the rest of us are a bit jealous that they get the nicest room in the house!

Here's a little video of Kely enjoying the Sunny Seat in their bedroom. . .

And after sunning yourself, don't forget to Hop!

ManCat Monday

On this ManCat Monday, Disco wants to know if any LadyCats would like to join him for a snuggle in bed. . .

There's room for more than one, HahaMeow!
(Oh Disco, Behave!)

Foodie Friday: Whole Paws® Style #WholeFoodsPets

We've never thought of calling ourselves ‘Foodies’, but really, we are! We're feline epicureans of the highest order. We shun most ‘treats’ and we think we'd turn our noses up at junk food (well, except maybe the perenially dieting Disco).

Since we don’t have thumbs and can’t cook, we depend on Teri to do our shopping for food for us and as you may know, 9 out of 10 families consider their pets part of the family, right down to the food they choose for us to eat. And 79% of cat and dog owners consider the quality of their pets food as important as the quality of their own food. Teri's in that upper percentile, that's for sure!

We were pleased when we were invited by  BlogPaws Pet Blogger Network to spread the word about Whole Foods Market® new Whole Paws® Pet Foods.

Teri's always on the hunt (HahaMeow) for food that are healthy and whose ingredients are from safe sources. She has confidence in Whole Foods Market® Quality Standards for her food, and that’s why she was interested in learning more about their new Whole Paws® line of foods for cats and dogs.

Our CatDad used to tease Teri when she told him she was going out to get us cat food and he’d say ‘See you in three hours’ even though the store was right down the street. That’s because Teri would wander up and down the aisles, and read all the labels and go round and round about the pluses and minuses of all the ingredients.
She is also a vet tech and has taken a number of nutrition classes and has even reviewed a few other companies foods and has toured pet food manufacturing plants, too.

She does not feed us food with glutens in it, after all the scares from the melamine in wheat gluten. She avoids foods with animal by-products in them, and even tries to find foods without ‘named’ by-products in them...but it’s hard sometimes to read all those tiny words on labels.

She said the ingredients in the Whole Paws® canned foods sound like something she could cook up in the Crock Pot for us, and the Whole Paws® dry food has ingredients she is comfortable feeding, too, although we just get dry food as a snack...it's healthier than many treats on the market (most of which we shun).

In the Whole Paws® product line, there are no artificial flavorings, no artificial preservatives, no animal by-products, and no corn or soy. Whole Paws® is the first private store brand  to have both a dry and wet dog food that's grain free! And, of course, Whole Paws® meets all of Whole Foods Market's strict quality standards.

Whole Paws® dry foods are made in the USA, with all proteins sourced within the USA. The canned versions are all made in the USA or Canada, and except for lamb (which is sourced from New Zealand), all proteins are sourced within North America. She said could not find information where the vitamins and minerals were sourced, but Whole Foods Market® states that product suppliers are required to perform a variety of tests, including a combination of in-house and outside laboratories.

The Whole Paws® premium line of pet foods includes 24 products, including dog treats that look like creme filled cookies (but they are healthy). The kitty products include an indoor formula dry food, and even a cat litter with baking soda (though we couldn't find an unscented version).

Maybe it’s just marketing, but she did like the fact that each of the Whole Paws® ltems had a photo of a real pet (not an actor, HahaMeow) with it’s name and age listed! She even found the website of the photographer who took the photos! Even the photographers own kitty is featured!

We told Teri we're ready to step up to the plate, do our duty and be taste testers! We got a huge box of goodies to sample, full size bags and cans even!

While Disco has IBD and has to be on a novel protein diet, that won't stop the rest of us from chowing down! Teri said she might have to save something for our Christmas dinner, but we bet it won't last that long!

In fact, watch for our post on December 27th, where we DO get to dig in and taste 'n review all the Whole Paws® cat foods! We will be sure to list all the ingredients of the products at that time, too.

We will sample from a menu that includes Whole Paws® Grain Free Turkey, Chicken & Giblets Dinner, Beef & Chicken Dinner  and Chicken & Brown Rice kibble. We are kinda jealous that the doggies get such delights as Biscuits with Steak, Bacon or Chicken flavors, but we will donate the doggie items to make a Merry Christmas for some doggies in need.

And if you aren't familiar with Whole Foods Market®, they are on all the social media sites, and we'll share those links so you can visit them and whet your appetite and your pets appetites, too!

If your pet parents decide to give the new Whole Paws® food a try, tell them the Curlz and Swirlz cats sent you, HahaMeow!

Wordless Wednesday

Snug as a bug in a rug! It's Brighton, who seems to favor having the old polarfleece sleeping bag all to himself . . . rather than sharing a Kitty Cocoon, Hahameow!

Wintertime is good for napping for everyone, but don't forget to Hop!
