ManCat Monday, Brighton Style

This is the ManCat Brighton when he was a tiny kitten!

When he was little, he was found to have a heart murmur, and he went to see the cardiologist. They said he had 3 leaky heart valves and he may grow out of it, but the family waiting to adopt him were afraid to adopt him, so Teri kept him and well, fell in love with Brighton and he stayed here with us.

The murmur went away, but when Teri started working at The Hope Advanced Veterinary Center, one of the perks was being able to see the cardiologists there at CVCA.

So, finally, 7 years later, Brighton went in for another heart exam and Teri was relieved that he doesn't have any serious issues that require medication for now.

Of course, Brighton won over everyone he met while at the vets, including the vet! Even though he complained the entire time he was getting his ultrasound, the vet said he sounded like a fire engine siren, hahameow...she put this cute note on his report:

...very confident cat; models clothes in cat shows. (as well as at the vets, hahameow!)

Oh, this is also what his report said: Brighton's valves remain mildly abnormal with no age induced progression. His myocardium is a bit abnormal with regions of both mild hypertrophy and thinning. Rex cats have a predisposition to restrictive type disease, so we will be monitoring him closely for progressive myocardial changes as he ages. For now, we would expect him to do well.

Frootbat Friday

This photo is blurry, but was too cute not to post for Frootbat Friday!

This sweet Frootbat kitty is Picchu, one the the girls we are boarding while their owner is in Afghanistan...

Picchu loves the heated cat bed and soft, fuzzy blanket to burrow under...

Yawn...take that flashy box away and let me get back to my nap!

Wordless Wednesday, #BlogPaws Style

Teri is once again flying off to BlogPaws this year, taking Coco along with her AND joining with our good friend, Carol Bryant of  Fidose of Reality  in speaking about Creative Fundraising for Rescues!

We know she will see many of our blogging friends there, but if you are undecided on whether you should attend or not... how about the thrill of meeting Coco! Or Teri! Or a zillion other things that make BlogPaws conferences worth going to! You can even save 10% off the registration fee by using our special discount code:

BlogPaws2014-Speaker-Thorsteinson-10

Teri has been to 4 of them, and she says it's the most fun she's had while getting educated! We thought we'd share some of our favorite photos from the very first #BlogPaws conference we went to, in Columbus, Ohio in 2010...

So, if spending 3 days near Vegas, with pet-centric people, pet-centric speakers, pet-centric brands and pet-centric bloggers sounds like a
to you... We'd love see you there, at #BlogPaws 2014!

Join us at the Westin Las Vegas Resort & Spa in Henderson Nevada May 8-10, 2014! (Teri says she is going to indulge and treat herself to a Moroccan Refresher Facial and maybe a Fusion Stone Massage!)

Oh, and once you've finished daydreaming about going to BlogPaws 2014, don't forget to Hop!

ManCat Monday....A Wee Bit o' Blarney!

We encourage all our friends to wear some green today, so you don't get pinched!

But really...hope your green doesn't include green hair, hahameow!

But for going along with the tacky costumes, we got to indulge today with some Greenies Dental Treats!

Wordless Wednesday

Brings new meaning to the term Bun Warmer, Hahameow!

Many of you are probably too young to know about Bun Warmers, but when Teri was a kid, before microwave ovens, there was this thing called a bun warmer that you put on the stove and warmed things like burger buns and donuts.

We like our bun warmer much better, even though our buns are a bit exposed, the rest of us is toasty warm!

Another way to stay warm in this chilly weather and not freeze your buns off... is to stay inside and Hop!
