Frootbat Friday

Here's a photo of Demlza, or Demi as Teri used to call her. She crossed the bridge many years ago, but both her markings and her Frootbats are unforgettable!

Thankful Thursday is Happy Thanksgiving today!

This has been a rough year for our Teri, but she is Thankful for us kitties being in her life!

And we are Thankful she takes such good care of us, too...

So from our home to yours, we all wish for you a  warm, loving and tasty Thanksgiving Day, too!

Ps: Spottie didn't want to join her sister Dottie in chowing down on Merrick's Thanksgiving Day Dinner and Brighton said he'd rather have Ham and sniffed and walked away, and Carlos was still too nervous to pose for a photo...

Oh, and take a moment to be thankful for our furriends, too and do The Hop today!

Wordless Wednesday

Sad, scared but safe with us again... Carlos is back home with us. Teri drove to North Carolina yesterday to meet up with the family who adopted Carlos and his brother last month.

Carlos is a good traveler and settled down in his carrier with hardly a meow. Teri already had the big walk-in cage set up for Carlos and while she knows while he is scared and hissing now, she thinks within a few days, he will relax and remember being here and all the familiar scents.

Sammy also shares this room (we still call it the Stud Room, even though he is neutered now, hahameow) and Teri isn't sure if they will get along, so for now, they are separated but she is hopeful they might become friends someday soon.

Sammy is kind of taunting Carlos, but he can't reach him, so Carlos is safe. Teri even gave Carlos the heating pad that is Sammy's and got him a new cat bed that is all plush and perfect to curl up in.

Teri is going to make Carlos an appointment at the vets next week so he can be examined and evaluated and hopefully start on some meds for his behavior problem, Pica.

We have a friend who has offered to 'Sponsor' Carlos and help Teri with some of the expenses involved in taking care of him. We are very fortunate to have friends who love us and kitties, too!

If he does well on meds, the couple who came to meet the kitties we have that need homes said they would be interested in meeting him and adopting him!

Teri thinks that just might be the perfect home for Carlos--2 conscientious adults, no kids and a very calm and quiet environment.

We will keep you updated on how Carlos is doing here, cuz we know you all care about him, too!

Oh, and since it's Wednesday, don't forget to Hop!

ManCat Monday

You might remember Carlos, the handsomest of Orange kitties ever!

Teri is in a bit of a funk today because tomorrow she is driving down to get Carlos from the family that adopted him and his brother Zeuss in October.

She got a phone call from the family that adopted Carlos and Zeuss last month, and after talking with them, she is going to take Carlos back, as he is not settling in happily as his brother has. Here is a link the a blog post we did about them when we first got them back in May:

While we did get them back for inappropriate urination problems, they have not had any problems that way in the past 6 months, not once! But Carlos has a behavior issue that has caused problems in the 2 homes he has been in and neither home has wanted to start him on anxiety medication to see if that would help, so Teri is going to do that after she has a vet appointment for an exam and labwork.

Carlos (he is almost 4 years old, born 1-27-2010) has Pica (eating non-food items) and in his first home chewed holes in socks, sweaters, blankets and curtains. Here at our house, as he and his brother were confined to a 'cat safe' bedroom, the only things he chewed on were cat toys and their blanket.

But in the home he is in now, he has chewed up scarves and many socks and also is a 'door dasher' and the family has kids and lots of people in and out and she is afraid he will escape and they live where there are lots of foxes and coyotes.

So, the best thing for Carlos is for him to come home to us to see if Teri can help him. Here is a link to info on Pica:

He is sweet, affectionate and very handsome and we would love to think he someday could have a chance at happiness in a home where he may do better,  in a quieter environment with people who dote on him rather that a family with kids where they don't get enough attention for their needs.

Of course, Teri is hoping that putting him on anxiety meds will help him, too, as the nutriceutical type calming aids didn't help at all, neither did the Royal Canin Calm diet...

At first, Carlos will be Sammy's room mate, in the big floor to ceiling cat condo, until he and Sammy get to know each other. Teri can get him on anxiety meds and who knows, maybe they will become best buds and that would be good for both of them! We are not sure if Carlos will miss his brother Zeuss, but we do know we will be glad to have him home so we can help him if we can.

Teri said she advised the two home he's already been in to take him to the vets and start him on meds, but neither family followed through with Teri's advice and she said that is the most frustrating part of all this. If he had been treated early on for his anxiety issues, maybe he could have overcome them! Now his is almost 4 years old... maybe it's too late!

But we will try...we owe it to Carlos to try!

Frootbat Friday

OMC! It's a BatCat! HahaMeow!

Them are some stupendous Frootbats he's sportin', aren't they?!

This handsome cat is Al, who you may remember. He was returned to Teri back in March and in June, he found his new forever home in June.

And by the looks of it, he is snug as a bug in a rug, in his heated kitty bed!

Wordless Wednesday

This lovely lady is Kely Bray. . .  She is Coco's mom and she came back home to us when her
owners made the decision to give her up. . .

She is a Grannie cat, 13 years old, but is full of love and life and is seeking a forever home where she can happily live out her golden years. . .

She arrived at our house in April, with her daughter, Bebe, who is 10 years old and such a pretty girl, too.

We were recently contacted by a nice couple who recently lost their 19 year old Cornish Rex and we hope that they come for a visit soon and fall in love with Kely and Bebe. . .

Teri will take loving care of them til the purrfect home comes along. . . whenever that happens.

She is just happy that they are safe here with us, and while they may be a little lonely cuz we don't like to share our "Teri Time', they have the Country Suite all to themselves when we don't have B & B guests and when we do. . . well, then they get to stay in Teri's bedroom and we get bumped to the Rumpus Room at night.

We don't really mind, cuz it's the Cat TV room, too and we have a heated sleeping bag to burrow into.

Oh, and don't forget to Hop today!

And we get to be...well, Turkeys??

That just goes to show that we are very accommodating ManCats!

Besides, all our friends know Disco looks best nekkid anyway!

Caturday Saturday

Coco and Disco enjoying some sun, while it lasts...

And how pleasurable is a sun bath? Very!

Frootbat Friday

Here's a blast fromt the past, HahaMeow!

This foursome is some of our kittens from back in 2009! Teri called them the "The Flower Children"...Dandelion, Daisy, Buttercup and Clover.

If you ask "How did you get them to sit still for this cute pix"...patience and about a dozen shots that didn't turn out...just like taking family portraits with kids in them, someone is always looking away, have their eyes closed or is making a face!

And just so you can see, that they aren't born with huge Frootbat ears, here's a pix of 3 Cornish Rex kittens at 11 days old, with little Frooty ears!

Thankful Thursday

Teri's thankful she is is working again, and just finished her 2 week training period and got kudos from her supervisor!  She told her that she's been doing really well and that her tech skills are shining through, with great information for their clients and correct, too. She said she appreciates that Teri is on their team!!

We are getting used to her being out day hunting again, but she is still getting used to her 4pm to midnight shift, hence not too much blogging was happening while she was in training.

MamaKatz, enjoying some sunshine in the garden.
Now that she is on her normal schedule, she's gonna try and get on a regular blogging schedule, too! This week, her days off were taken up with raking leaves, helping a friend with a photo shoot and taking one of the kitties staying at our B & B to the vets for her yearly exam and vaccines.

Last week, we go some very sad news. . . The CatMom of Soc and Spike had a heart attack and passed away suddenly. Teri was very sad all week, because she had been telling Soc and Spike that they would soon be going back to live with their CatMom and now when she looks at them, she feels sorrow at their uncertain future.

Their CatDad was hospitalized recently and it may not be in their best interest to go back home to him right now. . . Teri is so conflicted about what to do, so she will take her time and make a decision with the kitties best interest at heart.

But she knows how important our love and support was after our CatDad died, so she has personal experience to guide her, too. But it will be a difficult decision to ponder for her.

And on a happier note, Teri has tried many things to deter us from unraveling the toilet paper, even fashioning a little toilet paper protector, hahameow! But on one of the cat groups she is on, she saw this suggestion and it works!

You take a liter plastic bottle, the kind that soda's come in. and you use a box cutter to cut a piece as wide as the toilet paper roll and you make a cut across the width of the circle and slide it over the roll. You take the first few sheets and guide it through the opening and use it without having to take it off the roll!

So we think that makes for a Thankful Thursday for Teri, even if we don't get to have fun playing with the rolls any more!

Wordless Wednesday

Just in case you think that Coco Couture Cat is the first of our family to wear a wig. . .

This is a Pop Art canvas featuring Nani, who lives on as Teri's avatar from time to time. . .

Nani crossed the Bridge, but is fondly remembered every day when Teri looks at her amazing picture! Sometimes, she wonders what ever happened to the artist that transformed this photo of Nani. . .

Into this!

She thinks maybe he went to the Bridge, too and found Nani there. . .

Here is something she found on the web about him, just click on his name to learn more about him:
