Remember Me Thursday

Today is Remember Me Thursday

It is the day we should all pause a moment as give thought to the shelter pets waiting for forever homes, sometimes for years...

And to think of those who have been lost, never to find love again...

There is much sadness and horror in the world today, but there is also much kindness. It is the kindness that keeps us going and give us hope...

Each year, over 3.4 million pets in shelters lose their lives without ever having a second chance at happiness. And only 30% of owned pets came from shelters or rescue organizations. While we can't change the lives of all of them, we can change the life of even just one...

So today, if each of us would do something, anything, that would help make a difference in even one homeless pets life, then you would 'Be The Light'...

And by remembering those who have been lost, we can shine a light on the ones we can save!

One of Teri's biggest commitments is to the cats she has brought into this world, and she has been there for those kitties through thick and thin, and even though times are pretty tough, that did not make her waver in her 'Being the Light' for Kely and Bebe and Carlos and Zeuss and Al...

She knew they would find the perfect forever homes with her help, and she is just Thankful on this Thursday that they did not end up in a shelter, and that they did not become one of those millions that we are remembering today...
GrandmaCat Kely's forever home is with us!
Get involved and become a part of this world-wide awareness movement by sharing on social media. If animal lovers unite around the world, we can make a difference!

Ps: The photo in our post today was taken in our living room and just so you know...those are faux candles that have batteries to make the 'flame' flicker and glow. They are the only safe candles to have around us kitties!

Meow Like a Pirate Day

The dictionary calls this 'Reprising'...we call it a feeble excuse of 'Not Enough Time in the Day', but this is our PiRatTy Post from last year...

Ahoy thar mateys!

We come lookin' fer buried treasure 'n tasty lovely booty, Catnip 'n Cream t' be exact! 'n treats galore 'n feather beds, too!

Out o' t' way, ye bilge rats 'n scurvy dogs...our claws (cutlass) be unsheathed!

We'll pass on t' spiced grog, but a nice massage would be nice! We be land lubbers 'n we don't like rum much, but would sail t' Seven seven seas t' find some lovely booty!

ManCat Monday, SleepyPod Stylin'

You all know we are travelin' cats, but as of late, we ManCats haven't been out like the girly girlcats in the house!

Lately, our biggest adventure has been out on the deck in our kitty cabana. We are happy with that!

And a few outdoor photo shoots have been fun, too!

We have strollers... and we did get to stroll around for the 4th of July...and Brighton went out strolling a few weeks ago, but nothing since!

We even have fancy SleepyPods for traveling safely! We just need to travel!!

Teri entered a contest way back on Valentine's Day from The Pet Travel Experts and she was supposed to post about the Sleepypods she won for us as a Thank You...but even though she took photos, she never wrote a blog post about it!

They say better late than never, but this is embarrassing! But we are saying Thanks now and hope those Experts understand that we meowed thank you right away, but because we don't have thumbs, we couldn't write a thank you note til we swatted Teri into action!

The contest was called 'It's Love' and you had the chance to win any Sleepypod item for yourself and one for your Sweetie!

Well, we entered and picked the Sleepypod carrier. Coco has a pink one, and Teri thought a Chocolate brown one would be nice for us Disco, as it would blend with his coloration, don't you think?

She named one of our extended family, Lola, as our 'Sweetie' and chose a soft blue Sleepypod for her...just like the one Brighton has!

Pet Travel Experts has a nice Facebook page, too, with lots of good info on traveling with pets and health and safety, too! If you're on FB, be sure to 'Like' them! And of course, 'Like' Sleepypod, too, cuz they are furtastic when it comes to putting pet safety first!

Simply Sunday Afternoon...National Pet Memorial Day

I call this photo Zen Cat. This is Furrydance Bossiney 1990-2005. He is my "Heart Cat", a kitty that came along in a special time in my life where I opened myself up to loving him completely and there has never been another one like him. You can read more about him here:
http://furrydancecattery.blogspot.com/p/in-memoriam.html

Today, I honor his memory with this Sunday post...I think a lot about Bo, my favorite boycat, born in my second litter of Cornish Rex back in 1990. I lost him to HCM when he was 15 years old, so we did have a good, long, lovely life together.

But when I think of the many kittens that had been born here at Furrydance, Bo holds the dearest, most precious part of my heart. I had an animal communicator tell me that Brighton is Bo reincarnated and I strongly believe that.

Bo and Brighton were almost the same color, Bo being a red and white van and Brighton is a cream and white van. They both weigh the same, and kept their 'show weight' as they matured (which as Disco can tell you, don't often happen).

And they both have the same affectionate habit of 'porpoising' which is what I call the raising up on their hind legs and body slamming your leg. That is how they 'mark' humans and everyone comments on the cute behavior.

Some time ago, I came across this poem on another cats blog and it brings me peace, and in honoring our beloveds, I'll post it here, in honor of Furrydance Bossiney aka Bo.

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Wordless Wednesday

Abbie and Picchu are back with their Meowmy, and look very contented, don't they?!

You might recall that Picchu is one of our extended family, and Abbie is her BFF, rescued from a kill shelter in WVA...

They have been boarding with us since February when their foster home didn't work out well for them. Picchu is quite emotional and has been rehomed once before because of inappropriate urination issues.

Teri helped her find a new home, and for the past year, her Meowmy had been deployed to Afghanistan, but she is home forever now and she told Teri that she couldn't have made it through this past year without her.

Teri is glad that these kitties can now get on with their life, snuggle and sleep with their Meowmy every night now (something they couldn't do here very often cuz we'd get jealous!), but she is very glad she could be there for them when they needed her!

And if you are happy like we are...Don't forget to Hop!

Wordless Wednesday... Well, a few words and a few pix!

Disco got to go to work with Teri today! Now what cat is happy to go to the vets??

Unsuspecting Disco had a 'Day at the Dentist' today, but he didn't need any extractions...just a clean 'n polish! Yay said Teri!

After work, Teri took him on a little excursion and Disco got to go outside in his sporty shirt and bungee leash and the Little Red Corvette that Kely's been riding in, hahameow!

Teri and Disco hammed it up for the camera, hahameow!

And we think Disco looks very handsome and ManCatly in this photo! His heartthrob, Stella O'Houlighan, called him a  Flamin' Hot Cheeto!

Oh, there's about an hour left to Hop today, so go for it!

ManCat Monday, featuring Karl

No butterfly will pass unnoticed...

Karl is very happy in his new home and exhibiting none of the pica behavior he did in his previous two homes. We are so pleased that he has found the perfect family to share his life with!
