Season's Greetings on BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday!

This is Kely, the matriarch of our family, when she was a young Lady Cat!

And this little one is one of the kittens that was born on our home many years ago...she's playing on our IKEA Christmas tree, decorated with some of our at show ribbons and a kitty Xmas stocking to put lots of treats in (no lumps of coal for us good cats!)

And speaking of good cats, if you want to see what your kitty friends have been up to or if you want to make some new friends, hop on over to the #BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!

#BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop, Bye Bye November!

All the autumn leaves have pretty much fallen from the trees outside our bedroom window now...

And we are all seeking out warm spots to burrow into and stay warm... when it gets cold, we even wait on the carpeted stairs to greet Teri when she gets home from work since now the floors are cold on our toesies.

And sometimes, she even has to come looking for us when she gets home from work! And one of the first places she looks is just where she left us when she headed off to work at the crack of dawn!

Kely goes to work with Teri most weekdays, and Coco has her personal appearances and photo shoots that take her out of the house, but us ManCats were pretty much the stay-at-home types during November!

But we don't have to venture outdoors to be adventurous! We can join in the BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop and live vicariously through our fun-loving friends! You should try it, too!

#BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday, Celebrating National Senior Pet Month!

Our whole house is filled with Seniors...including Teri, hahameow! One of us is Geriatric, that's Kely!

And three of us are Seniors, Disco at 12, Coco at 11 and Brighton at 10 years of age!

For a change, Teri took all of us on an adventure to Altoona (Not a Tuna in sight, though) a couple of weekends ago! No Old Cat Left Behind, HaHaMeow!

It's usually that Diva LadyCat, Coco, that travels with Teri when she goes to a pet event, but she decided that she would skip the pet sitter and take Brighton, Disco and Kely along to Altoona PA, where Coco was a headliner at the Central PA Pet Expo!

We didn't have to dress up, in fact, we cats spent the weekend watching TV and lounging in bed. That might sound like our typical daily routine, but it was a nice change from napping at home!

Teri took our favorite heated beds and even a scratching pad (she thinks of everything) and we didn't trash the room like rock stars (though Teri always brings along a little sweeper and air freshener and leave the hotel room all neat and tidy).

Coco attended the Expo, and while she didn't sell any books, she had lots of fans who remembered her from her past appearances there, and many, many photos where snapped of her!

So, as you can see, Senior Pets can have fun, travel, be adventurous and enjoy naps! We think that's something worth celebrating all month!

Join in the BlogPaws Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop today and whether you are young or old, you can have fun, too!

ManCat Monday - Silly Halloween Costume Edition

As we are almost half way through October, Teri thought it would be fun to post some of us ManCat's in silly costumes, rather than couture (like Coco...)

Brighton looks dashing in this airline pilot costume, he needs to find a cute stewardess, hahameow! Although he might attract a hungry LadyCat in this next costume! Nom Nom Nom...

And maybe Disco thinks as Nemo, he could find a fishy snack inside the costume! He comes running when Teri calls out 'Fishy Flakes' (we all do!)

And in keeping with the ocean theme, Brighton looks kinda crabby as a lobster, don't you think?

But kinda cute as a pumpkin, and one that celebrates 'Tocktober, too, LOL...

We aren't sure what Teri has in those storage boxes under the bed but the label says costumes, so she probably has some silly costume for us this Halloween, but we are most comfortable in our birthday suits, HaHaMeow!

Remember Me Thursday

Today is Remember Me Thursday

It is the day we should all pause a moment as give thought to the shelter pets waiting for forever homes, sometimes for years... #RememberTheRescue

And to think of those who have been lost, never to find love again...

There is much sadness and horror in the world today, but there is also much kindness. It is the kindness that keeps us going and give us hope...

Each year, over 3.4 million pets in shelters lose their lives without ever having a second chance at happiness. And only 30% of owned pets came from shelters or rescue organizations. While we can't change the lives of all of them, we can make a difference by changing the life of even just one...

So today, if each of us would do something, anything, that would help make a difference in even one homeless pets life, then you would 'Be The Light'... And by remembering those who have been lost, we can shine a light on the ones we can save!

Remember Me Thursday was created to shine a light on homeless pets who never got the chance to find their forever home, for those pets who never left the shelters they were surrendered to. The Helen Woodward Animal Center, and Blue Buffalo have partnered to bring awareness, and all around the world, stories are being shared, and candles lit in honor of those whose lives were lost.

One of Teri's biggest commitments is to the cats she has brought into this world, and she has been there for those kitties through thick and thin, and even through some pretty tough times She did not waver in her 'Being the Light' for Kely and Bebe and Carlos and Zeuss and Al...

She knew they would find the perfect forever homes with her help, and she is just Thankful on this Thursday that they did not end up in a shelter, and that they did not become one of those millions that we are remembering today...#RememberMeThursday

GrandmaCat Kely's forever home is with us!
Get involved and become a part of this world-wide awareness movement by sharing on social media. If animal lovers unite around the world, we can make a difference!

Ps: The photo in our post today was taken in our living room and just so you know...those are faux candles that have batteries to make the 'flame' flicker and glow. They are the only safe candles to have around us kitties!

Honoring Those Who Came Before, on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Cascais, the very first cat I loved...

Not a day goes by that I don't think of the kitties I have loved, and lost... They say that grief truly never goes away, but softens with the passage of time, and that one can eventually remember those we have loved and gently smile when thinking of them...without grief and pain, but with joy at having been able to share our lives with them all.

Bo, the cat I call my Heart Cat

For me, each cat I have had the honor of sharing my life with brought with them love, and the reason I love the cats I share my life with now is because of the very first cat I ever loved...

Sweet Nanjizal Bay...lived into her Golden Years in spite of severe heart problems

I cannot imagine my life without cats beside me, and to honor the pets we have loved and who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge is the reason for this special day, the Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

Skiddy, spent her golden years with me, being loved...

The sadness we experience when losing a beloved pet, can truly be shared with others who have cared deeply for the animal companions they have had the privilege of walking through life with.

Share your remembrances of your pets who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge by visiting the Remembrance Day event page on Facebook, and celebrate their life by posting a photo or a poem there...https://www.facebook.com/events/310553242613822/

Nacho, a brave boy... so deeply missed

Sammy, your loss was so recent, my heart still aches...

Frootbat Friday, with a Fashion Friday Style!

Brighton's Frootbats are so large, he has to fold them down to fit in his Sleepypod, hahameow!

He was in his Pod to make a trip to see the cardiologist, because he has heart disease and he is due to have a dental procedure in a couple of weeks and it's the smart thing to do to have his heart check up on before he undergoes anesthesia.

Of course, all the kitties of Curlz and Swirlz are also fashion-forward cats and Brighton is no exception! Here he is in the waiting room at the vets, looking elegant in his tuxedo by Darlene Hachey.

See, Coco isn't the only cat dresses in couture! In fact, this tuxedo was made to match a lovely gown she wore at the Paws in the City NYC Celebrity Catwalk fashion show! And she has some pretty nice Frootbats herself!

But today was Brighton's day and he attracted lots of admiring glances while at the vets, from all the staff!

We are happy to report that his heart defect is stable and he still requires no medication for it, and he has been cleared to have his dental cleaning performed! And it's comforting to know that there is also a cardiologist at the dental clinic he will be going to!

Celebrating International Cat Day aka World Cat Day

Disco and Coco are dreaming of a world with no homeless cats

We were not sure when or who came up with the idea for a day to honor us cats (since we expect it every day!) but when we googled it, we saw that The Fund for Animal Welfare created International Cat Day way back in 2002.

Today is the day the world celebrates International Cat Day and it has been heartwarming and thought provoking to read everyone's posts for today. We have been blogging about 9 years now and one thing we know...the Cat Blogosphere is full of compassionate and caring cat lovers, who work together to help all kitties, and maybe today is about humans helping cats...

Sweet Kely has her forever home with us!

We join in many fundraisers and are reminded every day of the homeless and abused cats in need and sometimes it does seem overwhelming, but if you can end your day making a difference in just one cats life, then the day is not wasted, right?!

Nolo was a homeless kitty we helped find a forever home for!

Hooray for International Cat Day---do something special for the cats in your life, plus an extra for one cat in need! We dropped off a fun cat toy to keep some homeless kitties entertained til they can find their forever home!

#PetSafe Wants All Pets to Stay Hydrated...We'll Drink to That

Disclaimer:  We are happy to be a part of this product review, and we did receive a free PetSafe® Drinkwell® Avalon pet fountain to use and review, and keep. However, all of the opinions about the product are ours and not dictated in any way by the company. We only share information that we feel is useful and relevant to our readers.

Did you know that all cats originated from desert-dwelling creatures?? Because of that, we kitties don't drink enough water unless encouraged! Us kitties should drink one ounce of water for every pound of body weight each day!

There are many ways to try and increase the amount of water a cat takes in each day, one being feed all wet food, as it contains about 87% water. Another way is to leave the faucet in the kitchen sink dripping, but then we guess humans have a hard time moving us out of the way to wash the dishes, hahameow!

But we think the best (and most stylish) way is to ask your servants to buy you a PetSafe®  Drinkwell® fountain! Teri has gifted us with a couple of PetSafe® fountains over the years and we enjoyed the clean, fresh, aerated water very much!

But Teri said the older models where as much work as taking care of an aquarium, hahameow! So we were very excited when PetSafe® contacted us to see if we would like to try one of their newest styles, The Avalon!

PetSafe® has some really great products and one thing that impressed Teri (and made her smile) was PetSafe's support of the BlogPaws Conference and how many of their pet fountains they placed in the hallways at the conference in Phoenix last June!

It was hot, hot, hot in Phoenix and it is so important for both humans and pets to keep hydrated in the heat. Teri  said she didn't do too well herself! She took along little packets of electrolytes to add to her water bottle and guess how many packets she used?? ONE!  But she was happy to know the doggies were being taken care of thanks to PetSafe®

PetSafe® sponsored National Pet Hydration Awareness Month in July and we were so busy napping (and drinking from our fabulous new PetSafe® Avalon Fountain) that we forgot to tell everyone about it!

Of course, the heat of the summer, even for us indoor-only kitties, has everyone thirsty, pets and humans alike. PetSafe® even made this cool infographic as a great visual aid in teaching humans why pet hydration is so important!

What are all the benefits of staying hydrated for pets? Well, it lowers the risk of urinary tract disease (something we almost lost Brighton to a few years ago), and it speeds recovery from illness and surgery. And it is also very important that older kitties with kidney disease stay well-hydrated too! Our senior catizen, Kely,  falls into that category now, as she is in Stage 2 Kidney Disease.

Proper hydration plays a big role in a pet's health and knowing the signs of dehydration early can save you a trip to the vet's...that's a biggie!! PetSafe® even made a video to help pet owners learn  how to check for the signs of dehydration in your cat or dog!

PetSafe® now makes 6 different styles of fountains, and we are positive there is one that will fit your pets perfectly, but we got to test the Avalon and Teri even got to pick the color! She said red would look nice in our kitchen, and that's where she set it up!

PetSafe®  Drinkwell® Avalon fountain holds 70 ounces of water and is made of dishwasher-safe ceramic and one of the things Teri likes best about it is that it's super easy to clean! The only moving part is the pump!

She also likes the way the water flows, giving us choices if we want to drink from the bowl or from the 'waterfall'...Kely likes the waterfall the best!!

Caturday Saturday on Clear The Shelters Day!

Teri says she has us four senior kitties to take care of, and that financial responsibility is about all she can handle right now...but we want to do a little something to help those kitties in need who are waiting in shelters and foster care for their forever homes!

That's where Clear the Shelters Day comes in! All around the USA, in nearly every city, shelters have joined in this adoption initiate, almost 700 of them!! We think that is news worth sharing!

And it happens to fall on Caturday Saturday this year and we all know how many kitties end up in shelters, so we had to do our part in telling our friends about Clear the Shelters Day!

This nationwide pet adoption event is a team effort with NBCUniversal owned TV stations and last year nearly 20,000 pets left 400 shelters to start their new life in their forever homes! Animal shelters across the country come together today, July 23 for the 2nd annual Clear The Shelters event! This nationwide pet adoption event aims to connect animals in need with loving new families. More than 19,000 pets were adopted from 400 shelters during last year's #Cleartheshelters event.

If you have been thinking of adding a new pet to your family, gosh...today is the day to do it! All the adoption fees are waived! You can buy lots of noms and toys for your new family member with all that money you save! Here is the link to see what shelters and rescue organizations are participating where you live!

Find a Participating Shelter

And if you can't adopt, then share this event info on your social media channels--Facebook, Twitter 'n more by using the hashtag #ClearTheShelters. Want to see what people are Tweeting about right now? Click Here!

You might remember we helped spring a kitty from a shelter last fall and that made us feel sooooo good! We helped make a difference in that kitty's life and while we couldn't adopt him, we helped find him a forever home!

And today, Teri donated some coupons for free bags of kitty food that were in the BlogPaws Swag  Bag, so some kitties will be eating something yummy real soon!  We might not be able to adopt right now, but we can help in other ways.

We hope that this years Clear The Shelters Day sets a new record and we will be watching today to hear some good news for a change! We all could use more joy in our lives, and that goes double for those pets in shelters!
