Toysday!

Candi, contemplating The Cat Hair Magnet

Well, we aren't sure this qualifies as a toy, but it is truly one of our favorite items in our house...The Cat Hair Magnet! With a name like that, no wonder we are attracted to it, hahameow!

We have 2 of them, had 'em for years and they are still as good as new and get a lot of scritchin time from us. Teri thought they would be too stiff and pokey for us to use them but we loves rubbin' our cheeks on the bristles and getting a little massage whenever we want one!

Here's a link so you can take a look and maybe you'll find one under your Christmas Tree this year?!

Toysday! Our Review of the Purrfectplay Dust Bunnies & Carrots!

When us kitties were up at the cat show in Indianapolis a few weeks ago, we were kinda surprised to run into a furriend, Pam Wheelock, who we met at at the very first BlogPaws back in April 2010 and she makes some of the best organic toys on the planet!

We got to chatting again, and she made a fuss over Disco and Coco in their customized stroller and she very generously donated a heaping handful of her special Purrfectplay toys and in return, we promised we would test (and taste) them and write a review for our bloggie...

Teri didn't let us have them until we got back home, cuz she didn't want us losing them under the bed in some hotel room (and as you may remember, one we stayed at wasn't so nice!).

As you can see in the photo below, we got a nice, tasty selection of Wool 'Dust Bunnies' which are light and fun to bat around and easy to grab with our teeth and carry around! And we got a couple of very Bite-able Baby Carrots, too!

Each and every toy PurrfectPlay makes is made of organic natural fibers, with no dyes or toxins, no synthetic or reprocessed plastic and of course, where applicable, are stuffed with Certified Organic Catnip!

As you can see, Brighton thinks the texture of the carrot is just right for putting the bitey on! Maybe he had too many choices, do you think??

He gave the Carrot his Chomp of Approval, as you can see in the video clip below!

When Brighton ran off with a Carrot, Disco said, My turn, my turn! He has a thing for chewing on paper, so right off he grabbed the Purrfectplay business card, hahameow. You can't really tell, but he was really inhaling that organic nip!

Teri felt really good knowing these toys were hand made and safe in every way...something she just never feels real comfortable with when she buys toys at those 'Big Box' places! So, I guess these toys even made her feel good, hahameow!

And Coco does love the nip, as you can tell in the video below. Teri is hoping that one of those dust bunnies becomes her favorite toy, so she can throw that ratty sock away that Coco carries everywhere!

and even Sammy got in on the action...sniffin and a whiffin!

So, if you are looking for some wholesome toys, that are good for you too, as well as more great items than you can shake a paw at-- kitty and doggie blankies, collars and charms and accessories for planet conscious humans, too...

...we hope our review will have you runnin' right over to...

PurrfectPlay.com

And they have a bloggie that is full of news and views and articles on how to live healthy, too, along with lotsa cute kitties and doggie photos and tales!

This is a Furrydance Kely Bray, Coco's mother. She retired from being a momcat and shares her home with Trish and another Furrydance Cornish Rex, Bebe, in Baltimore Maryland.

Tabby Tuesday...

This is Furrydance Duncan, trying to stay snuggly on a cold winters day. He is a red classic tabby and white, but didn't want to come out of his burrow to show you his pretty furs! He lives with Abby and Mike in Maryland.

Tortie Tuesday

This is Furrydance Gweek, you all know her as KiKi. She is a Tortoiseshell color, but what makes her coloring a bit different is she is mostly black with splotches of red, instead of mostly red with splotches of black. I love the little "racing stripe" down her nose, which draws attention to her pretty face!

Toesies Tuesday!

This handsome kitty has graced our blog before, but he is so handsome, and his shimmery champagne coloring so photogenic, we just had to let him be our Toesies Tuesday cat! He is fondly known as The Brinkster.

We've had quite a few torties at Furrydance...but here's our current "model", Kiki! All Torties are unique, no two are ever alike. Kiki is mostly black, with smudges of orange. Some Torties are mostly orange with smudges of black!

Talkative Tuesday

Lately, Teri's been posting photos without much dialog and while the photos are cute, we thought maybe our growing blogroll of friends might want to know how Teri's life with Cornish Rex got started.

She became a cat person after she got divorced, adopting a cute little calico cat that was born at the vet clinic where she worked. She named that cat Cascais, after a beautiful beach in Portugal that she visited when spending time with her mom and dad there. She'd never had a cat growing up, just dogs...but she took little Cascais everywhere with her, even to the drive-in movies!

After a while, she adopted a second cat, a accidental mating between an Aby girl and a wandering salesman. She named her CousCous, after the middle eastern food (what is it with these names...beaches, food?), She had hoped Cas and Cous would be friends, but they never really were, but the three of them shared a nice life together, each cat having it's own routine and personality and Teri understood that. When Teri read about the Cornish Rex and how affectionate they were and how they loved to snuggle together, she said to herself, "One day I want one of those kind of cats!" She visited cat shows to meet them, and read everything she could to learn more about them, but she didn't want to put Cascais and Couscous through adjusting to a newcomer, she just didn't think they would be happy with a new addition to the family.

When Couscous and Cascais passed away, a few years apart, but both from intestinal lymphoma, Teri began her search for a Cornish Rex. She took a weeks vacation and visited half a dozen catteries and she picked out one when she met her at 7 weeks of age, but she had to wait til she was 16 weeks old to adopt her. That was a long wait for Teri, but worth it, cuz that kitty was Rusey Beach, who in honor of her very first cat, Cascais, she named after a beach in Cornwall.

She was going to have Rusey spayed and take her out to cat shows. But Rusey didn't care for the cat shows one bit! She just curled up in a little ball and flattened her ears out like airplane wings!

The whole effect was not to look like a greyhound, not win any ribbons, and not have to go to another cat show in her life!

So, the breeder who Teri got Rusey from helped her find a suitable mate for Rusey and that is how Furrydance Cattery and Teri's love affair with us CRex began, way back in 1988! Rusey passed away at the ripe old age of 19, actually outliving all but one of her children, and she was a very special cat both to Teri and to the family that adopted her when she retired from being a mommycat and who had her for the rest of her "golden years".

Twosome Tuesday

We thought this might mean we get two cans of food instead of just our evening treat, but Teri says only kittens get to have canned food twice a day and not just on Tuesday!

Hmmph. She said if there was only two of us here, that we could have canned food all the time, but Teri said we can't have champagne tastes on a beer budget. We like our crunchies though and really like it when kittens are around, because then we get to steal their Royal Canin Baby Cat 34 and it is the yummiest!
We helped Teri find the purrfect picture for Twosome Tuesday. It's Brighton and Billy at a cat show, being best buddies!

Toesies Tuesday!

It's our first T. T. and we have so many photos of adorable toes, that it was hard to pick one...but we decided on this one...titled "Smell my Feet", MOL

That's Bubba (he's the white one, and lives in New York) and Phoebe (she lives in Washington state). They are two of Furrydance's extended family.
