Still on Baby Watch

I'm still on babywatch, still feel babies kicking, have a feeling Coco might keep me up tonight, as she was very vocal all afternoon at work and on the ride home.

But right now she is curled up on my bed in a sleeping bag with Disco, Brighton and Kiki. When I go to bed tonight, I will shoo everyone else out of the bedroom so I can just have her to worry about, and I'll wake every couple of hours to check on her.

Once she goes into labor, if she has 4 kittens, probably the shortest time I'll be awake is 2 hours...but say she starts at 2am, I'll be up the rest of the night. Luckily, I had an extra day off and a 4 day weekend and got some good rest, knowing I'd need it.

Ayla, Iza and Marley (and Sparkle, too) said I probably know all about 'birthin' babies and that it might be good if I told everyone how I prepare for the arrival of kittens.

I'll work on that this week, it'll be fun and educational!

Still Sunday...Still waiting...

Uneventful night, yay! Teri slept in til 10am so even with waking up every couple of hours, she feels rested. We got some pix and news from our 'extended family' and thought you'd enjoy seeing Jasper and Clover, too!

Hi Teri,

I hope you're doing well. I've been checking your blog regularly and it's exciting that Coco is almost due! I love kitten pictures. Everyone here is good. Nothing exciting to report. Jasper has managed not to eat any foreign objects lately and Clover is staying (for the most part) out of trouble. I am inspired by your house cleaning this weekend. I desperately need to get mine done today. I wanted to share some photos with you of the boys.

1. Clover sits on the railing and it really freaks me out because it's quite a drop to his left. He's so cute when he sits up there though! I think he's figured out he gets a treat when he perches. Because I will do anything to coax him down.

2. A few months ago we realized the cats really enjoy watching tv. This is a shot of Clover sitting on the couch watching his favorite show, Antiques Roadshow. (Jasper prefers nature shows and What not to Wear.)

3. Jasper cuddles up with James in his arms, and this is confirmed to be his absolute most favorite position to sleep in.

4. Jasper also enjoys sitting on James' shoulders. We call him a pirate kitty when he does this. He's very silly.

Simply, Way too Early, Sunday Morning 12:30am

How did it get to be Sunday so fast? Teri even had an extra day off so she had a 4 day weekend. She got done cleaning house and doing laundry yesterday. We didn't even snoopervise, or ask for warm towels out of the dryer! We were napping, and getting scritches from our scritcher, and playing with our birdies from Stacy!

And we know all of you have been waiting for a Coco update, and all's well there, too! Which means--No babies yet. Today is day 60 from her first breeding and that should be ok, but Teri would like her wait a few more days.

Coco also could make us wait until Friday to go into labor. If she has them during the week, we can hope for a daytime delivery, while Coco is with Teri at work (aka The Vet) so she doesn't have to stay up all night and then work the next day!

But, Saturday night Teri worked on our blog for us, watching movies and and watching Coco, and she made the rest of us hang out in the library so she could concentrate on Coco without us distracting her.

About 10pm Saturday night, Coco started digging under the blankets, so she might be getting ready! Teri said when she starts squinting, that she is starting to have 'invisible' contractions...Teri had plans to work on the basement today (cuz her therapist said she's at a standstill)...unless Coco keeps her up all night! She will set the alarm to wake her up every 2 hours to check on Coco and it's just past midnight now...

Disco is back to his 'marathon running' workouts, cuz just like Teri and the basement, he was at a standstill, too, as far as weight loss goes. He really enjoys his one-on-one personal training sessions, too...

And we have good news about the two orangey outdoor kitties, too. Tom Tom has been coming around every day and looks good, and yesterday Teri saw Mama Katz for the first time in a couple of weeks. She looks fine, also and Teri is so glad they are both fixed now!

We are still catching up with visiting furriends, and Teri said she's to the 'G's' on our blogroll. Even if we don't leave comments, we always look to see what everyone is up to, especially those needing purrs...We are so glad that Chrystal's auction is going so well and come spring the work will begin on her new cat house! The cats and humans of the CB are full of love and heart and caring!

Coco's still 'Expecting'

Just an update for all you Purring cats...Coco is hanging in there, no more discharge, no signs of impending labor, kittens still kicking (so sweet to feel them rolling around in there) and the xray showed 4!

Here's a photo of her and Teri, waiting for the xray results...

Another Simply Sunday Morning...

Here it is Sunday evening already and even after trying to catch up with visiting our bloggy friends, we are only to the 'D's'. Teri says she'll never catch up. She tries, but as you can tell, she hasn't even undecorated from Christmas yet! (And Disco is still stuck at 15# but he got up on the tree, hahameow!)

We haven't posted in a week, and part of the reason was Teri was kinda worried about Tom Tom. After she brought him home from his neutering on Monday (he was also deflea'd with Frontline Plus and given an injection for ear mites and ear tipped, too), she wanted to keep him in the trap overnight but he was fretting to get out and had peed on the bathmat in the trap and she thought he might be warmer hunkered down where ever he usually spends the night, so she let him out.

He took off at a run around the corner and out of sight...and he stayed out of sight until Thursday! Our vet said he was more than likely just hunkered down as a feral would do if he was 'injured' but no kitty came and ate the food in the shelter until Wednesday and Teri wasn't sure who had the snack then either. And we had snow on Tuesday and it's been cold since then, too and she hated to think about him hungry and cold.He did weigh in at 14# when he was neutered, so he did have quite a bit to fall back on if he didn't eat for a day or two, but any longer than that and it's not good for a kitty as they can develop liver disease.

But she has seen him every day since Thursday and he looks good, if a little thinner. Here's a photo she took of him yesterday...

Teri worked on Friday as the cat hospital was short staffed, so she missed sleeping in with us that morning , so we had to entertain ourselves with one of Stacy Hurt's special catnip birdies (we've hidden the other one to eat later, hahameow!) But later, Teri came home and took a nap with us at night, before her long in-the-dark nap.

And it's been sunny and we have been soaking up the winter rays, as well as burrowing under our cat beds, too. Teri even turns one upside down so we get real cozy under it since it's on a heat pad, kinda like an Igloo!

The snow has turned into ice and it's pretty crusty outside. So Teri's been spreading birdseed around on the frozen snow for the birdies to eat.

All seemed calm and bright until this morning, when Coco jumped up on the bathroom sink and Teri noticed a tiny blob of bloody discharge on her vulva. She could still feel the babies kicking, and Coco was acting fine but Teri got worried. Coco still has 7-10 days to go before her 'due date' and if the kittens came now, they wouldn't survive.

She had already set up the kittening tent in the bedroom so she got Coco all settled in there and just stuck close to her for a while and she didn't see any more stuff...so most of the rest of the day she and Coco have been snuggling on the bed while she works on our blog and visits our bloggy friends.

A couple came to visit us for the first time (they are waiting for one of Coco's kittens). They seemed very nice, but they have 6 kitties (2 Cornish Rex) and Teri would like to visit their home and meet their kitties to help her decide if they would make a good home for one of our kitties. Teri let them and the other 4 people waiting for babies know that Coco is showing some signs that make Teri anxious but that she will keep everyone updated as the days pass.

Can you all keep Coco and her babies in your thoughts and purr some soothing, healing purrs for her...we believe in the Power of the Purr. There are a lot of kitties out there we are purrin for, KC and Annie and Au and MoMo and Georgie and Bubbles...Rumbly and Soft and Drooly Purrs (some of us drool when we purr real hard) to all of them from all of us!
