Well, as you will be able to tell from the photos, Coco got herself worked up into quite a frenzy, trying on outfits for the Ball.
Her pink and chocolate taffeta gown was TOO SCRATCHY, she said and too tight in the bodice...so she wouldn't stand up! Anyway, she said it wasn't really a gown as it barely covered her ladyparts, unless she sat down!
And, she wouldn't look up at the camera, so you can't tell she had on a lovely strand of pearls that Teri let her borrow for the evening.
What she really wanted to wear, was this...a clingy modern take on Disco, all sequins and spandex. Coco said it was a lot more comfortable and that's what she was going to wear, and then Coco hissed at Teri!
They came to a compromise, after many trips into the dressing room and that was the black and silver sequined sheath with the vintage Austrian crystal clip on earrings...
Which you can see, were more pinchy than the taffeta dress was scratchy and Coco said they didn't do a thing for accentuating her usually tall Frootbat Ears!
Teri said it was going to be a long evening, but at least she wouldn't have to listen to Coco complain about her uncomfortable shoes, since she wasn't wearing any!
She hoped that dancing with the dapper gentleman cats would take Coco's mind off the pinchy earrings, and that the Floofie womancats would commiserate with Coco around the punchbowl. I am sure they have their tales of the evenings preparations for the Ball that would make Coco embarrassed that she complained at all!
Teri was hoping Coco would leave her party dress on, even if she ditched the earrings half way through the festivities! But she overheard someone saying that Coco was so lovely, all she needed to wear was her lovely wavy fur and a diamond necklace and of course, the paparazzi got a photo of that! And maybe they were right...Coco does look transplendent in the tiara and dazzling diamond necklace, doesn't she?!

THE ABOVE TWO PHOTOS BY ZOOLATRY, PHOTOGRAPHERS EXTRAORDINAIRE!
The dancing and socializing and fun lasted into the wee hours of the morning, and one by one the attendees wandered off the their cat beds, or found a cozy chair to curl up in and dreamed of waltzes and caviar and cream...

Madame President, Coco!
The Party Begins...
The Inaugural Ball is honoring the First Cat President, Coco! And the First Cat Vice President, Misha! Both cats look simply stunning, as the evening begins!
AND FOR THE ELECTED CABINET, WE HAVE...
The lovely Cory, Secretary of Socks, looking resplendent in diamond tiara and brooch!

And Cosmo, Chief Whip, looking self-assured and classically beautiful in pearls!
Fin, Secretary of the Interior, looks absolutely fetching in bows and ribbons!
Hansel, Minister of Youth Affairs, fresh and hip in his cap, sure to catch the young girls eyes!

Kiddo, Minister of Housing, in his Tux and Top Hat, handsome mancat!
Oh, Sweet Praline, Minister of Floofy Affairs, just as lovely as any Southern Belle, and what an Up-Do!

And for Zoey...pearls, sultry looks and a simple marcelled wave is all she needs!

And let's not forget Rocky, Chief of Staff...an enviable position for any cat and he is looking especially well-groomed tonight!

And to round out the cabinet, and to have the difficult job of recording in paintings everything that goes on in the Cat Blogosphere, it's Maggie, Minister of Arts! And here she is, hard at work already!

And music for the evening was provided by the King and Queen of Soul, Annie Mosaic and Tuck (love the hats! Coco was looking for something just like that!)

The Invitation to The Inaugural Ball!
Inauguration Ball Eve

Well, at least Coco doesn't have to worry about her hair, like some of the Floofies who will be primping for hours for the Ball.
Coco has picked out her dress, and in keeping with how close we are to Valentines Day, just a hint of what her gown will be...Pink Taffeta with exquisite tiny chocolate hearts and a chocolate colored sash, tied in the back, and of course, Pearls! Very Retro, with an almost Coco Chanel feel to the ensemble.
Unfortunately, she has not been able to find just the right hat, that won't crush her FrootBat ears, but she is looking a chandelier earrings to give the outfit that finishing touch that, as Daisy knows, accesories are sooo important!
She put her foot down at wearing shoes, though...just like Daisy feels about pants. Though we did hear Daisy has some pink panties for Skeezix if he'll be her Valentine, MOL!

Madame Purresident, Furrydance Colours Cove!
And the Curls have the vote!
The catizens voted Coco the winner by a landslide, paws down.
Coco would like to thank the hundreds, maybe thousands, that voted for her and made her win possible!
She would like to acknowledge the support and advice her fellow candidates gave her, and she hopes to have them fill the cabinet positions, where she can call upon them for their sage wisdom and advice.
Here is her acceptance speech (she didn't know about that Inauguration Speech Generator--that was a nice job Sandra did!)
My fellow catizens:
I stand purroudly here today, humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have in me, mindful of the sacrifices borne by the cats that came before us.
On this day, we have chosen unity of purpose over conflict and discord, and we come to proclaim an end to the petty hissing and spitting, the false mewling, the worn-out dogmas (she smiles here) that for far too long have been the stuff cat fights are made of.
The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to use our nine lives to better the world for cats; to carry forward that noble idea, that all cats are equal, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness. That happiness might be in a lap or under a fluffy blanket; it might be in a sunny window or in sneaking into the pantry for treats.
Our journey has never been one of settling for less. Cats do not hesitate to ask for what they want. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted, for those who prefer catnaps over stealthy progress, or for those who seek only the pleasures of fluffy beds and crystal food bowls. We understand there must be laundry days and broken dishes to be replaced when big footed humans step on them.
Rather, it has been the brave felines, some celebrated, but more often just plain cats, obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long path towards forever homes, and the best of stinky goodness (with a few treats of our choice thrown in). There are some who may question the scale of our ambitions. They have forgotten what the cats who came before us have already done, and of the loving human creatures that have helped us along the way.
We will show the world what cats can achieve, when imagination is joined to common purrpurrs, and all cats and dogs and humans and creatures of the earth can live together in harmony. That is the dream, that is the hope.
Coco waits for the Election results...
FASHIONS BY MEOWWEAR http://mymeow-wear.com
Here she is in her pretty blue sweater, posing for the pawpawrazzie (and in her favorite blue and white sweater she told a certain cat she would wear just for him...what blue cat do you think that might be?)
Election Buzz
...soon we will be back to our regular programming, but for now the activities surrounding the upcoming election of Cat President are taking center stage here at the Furrydance abode.
Coco is busy going through her closet trying to pick out an Inaugural Ball gown (and accessories, of course). She really doesn't have a closet like the fashionable Daisy...it's a big purple plastic storage box.
So, with a few more hours to go, that's what's happening here at Furrydance Cattery...Coco thinks it's time for a nap now!

Election Update!
You might think that Coco
would have the pre-election
jitters, but she's digging in
her claws and giving it her all.
It's a bit cold and icy in Coco's
hometown, so she has been
staying in her office,making
some phone calls, asking
cats and people alike, if she
can have their vote on January 31st!
But she really likes to meet (and listen...you know she has the ears for listening) people and cats in person, so she put on her warmest coat and scarf, and had Teri take her in to work with her today, so she could meet and greet all the cats and their owners today. She listened intently to their complaints and their hopes, and as you know, for every problem, one has to also bring a solution to the table (along with some Fancy Feast, please) and Teri told her that's what those Fireside Chats are about.
When she and Teri got home today, and checked the polls...oh my cat! Coco moved into second place! Now, she knows there are many capable cats out there in the running, and Teri told her if she wins, that she will need those intelligent cats in her cabinet (is that where the Temptations are kept?) and she would like them all to have Fireside Chats with all of them, too.
Coco knows it's quite a responsibility being Cat President, and she hopes if she is elected, that she is up to the task, but knows behind every good president, there is a good cat (or many good cats!). So on Saturday, we will all be gathered around the computer, watching the results unfold...and may the best cat win!

Wordy Wednesday

Hello my fellow Catizens,
Coco here, using the platform of a usually Wordless Wednesday, to talk a little bit and tell you why you should cast your vote for me, the Cat for Change candidate.
The clock is ticking down to January 31st, when the voters will pick the catdidate they feel will be the best one to serve as their Cat President ( I am not sure if that is for 4 human years or 4 cat years though) and I thought I should tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a Cornish Rex cat. My cat ancestors came from England, many cat years ago, to escape the tough existence of being barn cats. We were teased and made fun of because we were different, but that has given us the experience and compassion to be around all kinds of cats and be diplomatic, and that experience is very important if you are going to be a good cat president.
Another attribute that is important when being the cat leader of your country, is to be a good listener. I am sure you can see that big ears is one of my strongest points, and I will not turn a deaf ear to what my catstituents tell me. I have heard about Fireside Chats and that sounds like a splendid idea to implement, as with my short fur, I am always seeking out warm spots!
